If you have crooked, crowded, protruding or gappy teeth, they can be corrected using different types of dental braces.

Frequently asked questions about Fixed Braces

Will my speech be affected with fixed braces?

Fixed braces won’t affect your speech. Like anything, you may find that you have to get used to the new sensation of having braces on your teeth, but your speech won’t be affected.

How long does treatment take for fixed braces?

Each patient is different, and this will depend upon how severe your case is. Most patients find that their treatment is completed in approximately 12 to 18 months.

Do fixed braces hurt?

You may notice some pressure on your teeth after the initial fitting and it may take a bit of getting used to and after the first few days you should not experience any problems. You may want to take painkillers in the first few days and consider eating softer foods whilst you get used to your new fixed braces.

What happens if my braces break?

Occasionally with fixed braces you may experience a broken wire or bracket. If this happens or you notice that a wire is giving you discomfort, contact us as soon as possible so that we can arrange for you to come into the surgery to get it repaired.
